FOUNDER & DESIGNER
KRYSTA ATKINSON
a little about me - i graduated from fashion school in brisbane, australia in 2019, with a passion for luxury fashion, bridal and evening wear that ran deep. designing dresses initially became a personal journey - i first started making wedding gowns for friends and family, working late nights, then eventually balancing designing, working a full time job and my most favourite part - motherhood, raising two young children. this hands-on experience shaped me, embedding a realness and authenticity in my approach to bridal design.
i wanted to give more focus to my young family, so i transitioned into creative direction and marketing for a major bridal house in australia, overseeing multiple bridal brands. it was a dynamic, high-paced environment that refined my vision and deepened my expertise. but as my confidence grew, so did the drive to create something that was true to me—a collection that was a pure reflection of my style and values.
with this vision in mind, i built my own capsule bridal collection, where modern minimalism meets meticulous structure. each gown is designed to honour every bride’s unique form, allowing her to feel empowered, radiant, and entirely herself. inclusivity and attainability are the cornerstones of my work, because I believe that every bride deserves to feel exceptional on her day.
I’ve built The Bryde on my own terms—ditching seasonal collections and launching fresh micro-drops throughout the year. So if you’re still searching for the one, keep checking in! There’s always something new waiting to make you fall in love.
to the brides who choose my designs—thank you!
"Your wedding dress should be a reflection of your spirit—a bold statement of who you are, crafted to make you unforgettable."
The process
i start every design by diving into the world of fabric. each texture, each pattern - it all inspires me, sparking ideas that evolve into something special. for me, it all begins with how a material drapes, how it flows and plays with the light. from there, i get hands-on, experimenting with silhouettes and draping on my mannequin, and yes, that can take months to get just right.
my studio is often a beautiful mess - sketches and fabric swatches everywhere. but it’s in this creative chaos that I find my rhythm. my favourite part? sculpting each piece directly on the mannequin, shaping the fit and adjusting every detail until it feels perfect. when iI move into the sample phase, i keep refining, making those last-minute tweaks that bring the design to life.
every dress i create isn’t just about reflecting my personal style - it’s about capturing something unique for each bride. my dream is that when a bride steps into her dress, she feels like it was made just for her.
